I’ve already visited several ski areas this season and enjoyed some wonderful runs and absolutely dreamlike days on the slopes. But there’s one thing I haven’t managed yet: I haven’t been to Kaunertaler Gletscher this winter. And yet this small glacier ski area is one of my favorites in Austria.

The first few metres are hard work. I’m breathing heavily, even though we haven’t come very far yet. Still, I can feel the unfamiliar movement in my legs. The first ski tour of the season takes us up the edge of the piste on the Kaunertaler Glacier.
