The city lies below me. Far below me. Almost 2.000 vertical meters separate me from the houses I can make out in the valley. That's a long way. And it's a very steep drop, too. My skis are ready and waiting. I look at them sadly and shake my head. Unfortunately, my boards will have to be patient a little longer. Just like me. It’s still mild outside. Mild and warm. I ignore my ski boots and reach for my hiking boots instead. Looks like I’m setting off on foot again. The plan is to climb Ellmauer Halt, the highest point in the Wilder Kaiser. And because the Wilder Kaiser is known far and wide not just for its name but also for its striking appearance, I’m taking this opportunity to launch my new project: Ellmauer Halt is set to be the first summit on my list of the 101 best mountains .
